EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT

Name: Brian Buskard

Title: Research Associate

Location: Annapolis, MD

Bio: I was born in Greenlawn, New York and shortly thereafter my parents moved our family to Charlotte, North Carolina where I grew up with my two older sisters. My parents taught us the value of hard work, determination, and the importance of having a variety of different life experiences. According to close friends and family, from a young age I always displayed an active interest in engaging in rigorous debate about new ideas and was never afraid to give my opinion on political topics to whomever listened.

After high school, I decided to attend the University of Maryland to pursue my interest in politics. However, my first semester of my freshman year, I took a detour and studied abroad at the University of Central London before starting classes in College Park. After graduating I went to American University to study Public Policy and took an internship with the Department of Justice. Both experiences formed my research skills that I use with Cannon Research Group.

What you do at Axiom/how you serve our clients: As a Research Associate for Cannon Research Group, I provide our clients with detailed information about themselves and their opponents to better educate them on their political environment, or political vulnerabilities they may have. This research includes reviewing public/legislative records, news stories, background checks, and legal resources with Cannon’s leading research techniques.

Fun fact about you: During my overseas studies, I played club lacrosse for the University of Central London. I had the opportunity to play all over the United Kingdom including historic campuses such as Oxford and Cambridge.

Favorite political figure and why? My favorite historical political figure is Teddy Roosevelt. There was not much that President Roosevelt didn’t do in his life—he was well-known for his days as a Rough Rider, becoming New York City Police Commissioner, sparring against professional boxers as a sitting president, and becoming an accomplished writer/author. President Roosevelt was a multifaceted, multi-talented president that excelled in many different areas of his life.
