EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT

Name: Melyssa Perez

Title: Associate, Clout Public Affairs

Location: Houston, TX

Bio: I attended the University of Texas at Austin after acknowledging a passion for policy and law when I began to debate morality and ethics in politics. The day after I graduated, I transferred to our Houston office, which is just north of my hometown. Prior to my work at Clout, I worked as a legal assistant for a Texas and California based civil litigation firm assisting on a variety of large-scale lawsuits ranging from agriculture to medical malpractice. I also served on U.S. Senator Ted Cruz’ successful re-election campaign in 2018, where I helped to organize and manage several large events and rallies, ranging from televised charity events to the final election night celebration, where I worked directly with grassroots, local elected officials, and voters from across the state.

What you do at Axiom/how you serve our clients: I am an associate at Clout Public Affairs, where I assist clients with crisis management, strategic planning, and communications with special skills in social media and branding in a wide variety of industries such as energy, airlines, transportation, entertainment, sports, and telecommunications. I also run the Axiom summer, winter and spring associate programs in our Houston office, where I recruit and manage top-notch college applicants from the across the state.

How you got your start in politics: With an email from Margarita Fuksman! As I was approaching the end of my time as an undergraduate student and was planning on attending law school, I received an email from Margarita inviting me to interview with Axiom. Unsure of where it would lead, I took the interview, which became my introduction into the world of politics and one of the best decisions I ever made.

Fun fact: I have an extremely military-oriented family, with almost every male (and my mother) in my immediate family having served our country for an extended period of time: My mother (13 years), father (21 years), my step-father (21 years), both of my uncles on my father’s side (10 years), my only uncle on my mother’s side (still active), my grandfather (21 years), my other grandfather (28 years).
