EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT

Name: Raina Callahan

Title: Media Specialist, AxMedia

Location: Chicago, IL

Bio: Born and raised in Chicagoland, I transplanted to North Carolina for college, where “y’all” was added to my permanent vernacular. Always ready for a challenge, I accepted a job in a new town and state to schedule a presidential campaign outside DC, where I lived for a few years and ended up settling into the niche of political media competitive tracking. I was lucky enough to connect with Sarah Hoeller and AxMedia’s need for a seasoned competitive analyst about three years ago and could not ask for a better team to work with every day. In my spare moments, I love getting out to my community garden plot, drinking bourgeois coffee, and walking my dog, Chewy.

What you do at Axiom/how you serve our clients: At AxMedia, I serve our clients through responsiveness, ensuring they have the most current data so they can make informed decisions about their media placements. Competitive is a constant and ever-evolving stream of financial data that I constantly monitor and filter through to ensure our clients quickly know the essential information about who is spending and where. By end of day, that data is compiled and visualized to illustrate not just dollar totals but buying efficiency and match-ups against other advertisers, with customized views designed for busy campaigners who want both detail and at-a-glance matchups.

Fun Fact: I have a creative streak – in college I won several awards for my creative writing and received a grant from the school to direct a play I authored.

Your favorite political figure (past or present) & why: I have had an affinity for Thomas Jefferson for quite some time, but it was truly cemented after reading the fantastic bio “Thomas Jefferson: The Art of Power” by John Meacham (Pulitzer Prize winner!). Jefferson’s ability to compromise in order to keep government moving, while still maintaining his core convictions, is a lesson everyone can learn from and made him a political genius.
