EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT

Name: Samantha Dravis

Title: Senior Vice President, Clout Public Affairs

Location: Washington, D.C.

Bio: I’ve worked mostly as a policy advisor and strategist in various roles at a federal agency, Capitol Hill, The White House (Bush43 Administration) and for third-party political and public policy organizations.

Prior to joining Clout, I was the Associate Administrator at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, responsible for leading policy for the agency’s regulatory and permitting programs.

I’ve also served as President of the Rule of Law Defense Fund and General Counsel of the Republican Attorneys General Association; as an attorney on Mitt Romney’s 2012 campaign for the presidency, and as the Associate Director of Political Affairs at The White House during the administration of President George W. Bush.  I have also volunteered and worked on numerous Congressional and Senate campaigns and participated in a few recounts, which are always exciting!

I studied law at University of Notre Dame and Political Science at University of Kansas.

What you do at Axiom/how you serve our clients: I advise Clout’s corporate clients on media, public relations and regulatory strategies.  I help them execute public affairs campaigns, and I work with their internal teams daily to advance their public policy goals.

How you got your start in politics: Like many others, I was an intern! I first interned on the Senate Judiciary Committee for Senator Sam Brownback (R-KS) during the Supreme Court nominations of Harriet Miers, then of Chief Justice John Roberts. It was an incredible privilege and learning experience to observe the procedure and learn the ins and outs of the political process firsthand.

Your favorite political figure (past or present) & why: Churchill, because he demonstrated decisive leadership & courage that unified people during perhaps the most dangerous time in modern history – his numerous famous quips about the courage to keep going and fighting through difficult times are very inspirational!
