EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT

Name: Brian Marchese

Title: Account Manager, Direct Voter Contact

Location: Kansas City, MO

Bio: I’m originally from the suburbs of Chicago and went to school at the University of Iowa. Once I graduated, I started looking into law school and found myself needing a break from academics. I began my career in politics soon after and now realize that a 9-5 job was never going to be for me. When the 2016 cycle ended, I wanted to learn more about campaign messaging and voter targeting, and I wanted to learn from the best. I talked with an old boss who said there was only one place to go, and it was Axiom. I started here in early 2018 and could not be happier with that decision.

What you do at Axiom/how you serve our clients: I have a great job here at Axiom. I get to work each day with our General Consultants and clients on a multitude of areas from candidate branding and message development to generating mail plans and executing laser-focused direct voter contact strategies.

Fun Fact: Most people don’t know that I’m actually a twin. My brother and I are fraternal twins and were a complete surprise, a story my parents love to tell. He may have been born first, but only because my cord was wrapped around his neck. We’re very close but very competitive, as brothers often are with one another.

What lessons I’ve learned from previous cycles: No job is too small. If someone is too important or too self-involved to help with the little things, they shouldn’t be on your team. Campaigns are tough. We’re all putting in long hours and we’re all overworked, but your team should be doing anything and everything they can to win – period. At least for me, I’d rather be delivering lit across the state or putting up annoyingly insignificant yard signs than sitting at home the day after the election with regret.
